EDUCATION

Mandate

The Education Committee supports the membership through the provision of educational programs to address professional needs. The Education Committee liaises with BOMI Canada (Building Owners and Managers Institute) to promote BOMI's Real Property Administrator (RPA), Facilities Management Administrator (FMA), Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA), and Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT) professional designation programs. In addition to this, through private sector partnerships, the Education Committee also supports and promotes alternative courses and programs of interest to the industry in general. BOMA Ottawa is the best source of educational programming for the industry, offering a variety of timely, relevant courses.

Activities

In addition to formal courses, the Education Committee is responsible for overseeing a number of other important initiatives designed to keep members educated and informed on issues of importance throughout the commercial real estate industry.

Important initiatives include: providing timely information on seminars; assisting students through the BOMA Ottawa Scholarship Fund; offering career development through the BOMA Ottawa Mentoring Program; and, producing articles of interest for the weekly e-newsletter.

BOMA Ottawa is proud to announce our BOMA Ottawa scholarship program for students in the RPA, FMA, SMA or SMT designations.

We are looking for individuals who have an interest in starting careers in real estate, that are passionate about learning new skills, deserving students who otherwise would not be able to obtain their designations due to lack of financial assistance from their present employers or due to personal financial hardships. Do you or your company have an employee who meets this description?

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the Scholarship Program.

1. Any person wishing to enroll or who is currently enrolled in BOMI RPA, FMA, SMA or SMT designation through BOMA Ottawa.
2. Students cannot be receiving duplicate funding.

The Scholarship Program is not limited to BOMA members. Anyone wishing to pursue a career in our real estate industry, or upgrade his or her existing skills, is eligible.

Our Education Committee is hard at work finalizing all of the details of our Scholarship Program.
