BOMA Ottawa (The Building Owners and Managers Association) is the voice of the commercial real estate industry in the National Capital area. Founded in 1971 by Pat Gillin and about 12 other members, our membership has grown to over 450. BOMA members include those who own, manage, service or support in excess of 60 million square feet of commercial, office, retail, industrial and institutional property in the region. BOMA Ottawa is one of the National Capital Region's most active and effective business associations.
BOMA Ottawa is part of BOMA Canada, the voice of the Canadian commercial real estate industry. With strong local associations in each major region in Canada, BOMA Canada is comprised of over 2000 members, representing over 500 million square feet of office space in Canada. Members include building owners, managers, developers, facilities managers, asset managers, leasing agents and brokers, investors and service providers. BOMA Canada represents the Canadian commercial real estate industry on matters of national concern, promotes excellence in the industry through information, education and recognition.
BOMA Ottawa and BOMA Canada are affiliated with BOMA International, which is headquartered in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1907. BOMA International is the oldest and largest professional association representing the commercial building industry. Today, BOMA International includes 19,000 members in nearly 100 North American and nine overseas affiliates in Australia, Brazil, Finland, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, the Philippines and South Africa. BOMA's North American membership represents a combined total of more than nine billion square feet of downtown and suburban commercial properties and facilities.
BOMA forms a world wide professional community dedicated to providing knowledge, solutions and recognized industry standards and research to commercial real estate practitioners. BOMA is an excellent source of information on building development, leasing, market trends, operation costs, energy consumption patterns, local and national building codes, legislation, occupancy statistics and technological developments.
BOMA Ottawa offers members the opportunity at our monthly meetings and other events to network with outstanding leaders from our industry and related industries as well as government representatives, all of whom have an impact on commercial real estate in Ottawa.BOMA Ottawa supports the industry's leading professional designations, RPA® and FMA®, offered by BOMI through classes and study groups. We also provide publications on standards and issues of importance to the commercial real estate industry.
